Sam Lovatt – Set Designer
Having been passionate about theatre from a young age, Sam chose to pursue theatrical design and trained at the Arts University Bournemouth, where she achieved a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Costume with Performance Design. Sam worked on over 50 productions funded by the University, which allowed her to develop as a Scenographer.
Sam’s company Sam Lovatt Scenography designs sets, costumes, puppets and projections for stage and screen. Recent theatre design credits include: Two Gentlemen of Verona, Doctor Faustus, Tales in the Dark, Tinderbox, The Rights of Man, Don’t Dribble on the Dragon, Unman, Wittering and Zigo, Romeo and Juliet, Pesky Pirates: A Hip Hop Adventure, and Beauty and the Beast. Film credits include: Litterbugg, The Eclairs, Duchemin’s Breakfast, The Reclamation, Ode to Venus, Reverie and The Times.
Sam has thoroughly enjoyed designing for Tonight I’ll be April, as this piece is a thought-provoking, gritty insight into how abuse and mental illness can affect a relationship, and is a taboo subject that needs to be talked about openly.
